London Spitfire Welcome Kwangbok Kim

The London Spitfire are ecstatic to be welcoming the newest member of our coaching staff, Head Coach Kwangbok Coach815 Kim! With his arrival, Kim immediately becomes one of the longest-tenured esports coaches in the Overwatch League.

Dating back to 2007, Kim’s storied coaching career began in Starcraft: Brood War with WeMadeFox. In 2011, Kim made the move to Starcraft 2 and became a head coach for StarTale, now Afreeca Freecs. He helped put together an incredibly successful chapter in the organization’s history, with victory at the BattleNet World Championship Series Grand Finals, WCG Grand Finals, and Blizzard Cup in 2012, followed by championship runs at the MLG Pro Circuit Winter Championship and IEM Season 8 New York in 2013.

His reign of success in all things Blizzard Esports would continue in 2014, as he moved on to Heroes of the Storm. Over the course of three years and 23 official tournaments, Kim helped lead teams to 12 1st-place finishes and seven 2nd-place finishes, including a legendary run of 41 consecutive set victories. With the arrival of Overwatch, Kim was brought on as the head coach of MVP Space in OGN APEX Season 4, helping bring the team to Contenders and making the Round of 8 in Contenders Season 2.

“Kim’s career speaks for itself, and we’re thrilled to be working with him as he enters the next stage. We’re excited at the prospect of what his veteran leadership will bring and can’t wait to get the action started again!” - Jack Etienne, London Spitfire CEO & Owner

With the Overwatch League 2019 season on the horizon, Kim and the team are looking forward to defending their title and bringing home another championship.
